We believe the impact of design is transformative when accessible, relevant, and rewarding.

CLD transforms shared environments, experiences, and brands, changing architecture and communications and what we expect from these in the future.

Vision

CLD is committed to improving our environments, experiences and expectations of architecture communications through dedication to design, creativity and sustainability.

Background

Clay Lowe launched CLD in 2014, embarking on a journey to realize compelling and valuable ideas about places, products and experiences with motivated clients and colleagues. His work with architects, academics, researchers, artists and diverse communities informs his process.

Clay was the graphic designer, marketing, and communications at the Art Gallery of Alberta, where design was essential to promoting exhibitions, inspiring public engagement, and connecting people, art, and ideas.

Practice

Clay integrates art and design in his process, challenging categories and breaking conventions. The CLD studio is located at Timbre Workshop & Studios, a mixed-discipline design and production space in Edmonton.

Clay teaches Environmental Graphic Design in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications at MacEwan University and has been nominated for a Sessional Instructor, Teaching Excellence Award (2024) and a Distinguished Teaching Award (2015).

Clay lives and works in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Treaty 6 Territory, Edmonton, Alberta), not far from the banks and ravines of the North Saskatchewan River, which continues to be a source of energy and inspiration.
