Maven & Grace Hardwares
Branding & Art Direction

Maven & Grace Hardwares curate and supply specialty goods, eclectic vintage wares, florals and picture framing. Uniquely situated on Whyte Avenue in historic Old Strathcona in the community of Ritchie and inspired by the Hardware store this building was more than 90 years ago, CLD crafted the brand identity, interior and exterior into Maven & Grace Hardwares—transforming the building with hand-painted art and signs, and the interior with custom-made furnishings and vintage rebuilt displays.

CLD’s folk-craft brand identity contrasts adjacent shop-fronts while remaining historically connected to the Ritchie neighbourhood and relevant to the eclectic and vintage character of Maven & Grace.

Clay’s archival research uncovered 1940’s ads and photos that confirmed the building operated as a hardware store. CLD named, designed, base-coated and hand-painted all the exterior art and detail, transforming the building into a memorable boutique experience unlike anything else in Edmonton.
